Program

Mozart’s immortal hit Eine kleine nachtmusik and Grieg’s Holberg Suite. The program also includes music by Bach, Mendelssohn and Sibelius. Beloved strings! During this evening, the strings of the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra will shine with well-known and beautiful pieces. The string section of the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra will also be touring the county in September in the Concert Carousel tour series.

Immortal hits

We hear well-known and beloved music from the string repertoire of the great classical masters, such as Mozart’s immortal hit written in 1787 Serenade No. 13, Eine kleine nachtmusik, translated “a little night music” was probably a commissioned work whose origin is not documented. Although the title suggests light entertainment music and it was probably played at informal parties during Mozart’s time, its unforgettable tunes have made it much appreciated and played in concert halls worldwide.

Dedicated to dance music

Grieg’s wonderful Holberg Suite from 1884, based on famous dance forms from the 18th century, is also on the program. The suite was written in honor of the writer Ludvig Holberg from Grieg’s hometown of Bergen. Music by Bach, Mendelssohn and Sibelius will also be performed.

Leader and soloist of the evening

Fredrik Paulsson regularly tours the world as a violinist, viola player and chamber musician. In addition, Fredrik has been concertmaster of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. He is also a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and has been Artist in Residence at Swedish Radio P2.

Uppsala Chamber Orchestra

With a range of styles spanning from grand symphonies to more intimate chamber music works, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra has performed live music for the county’s residents for over 50 years. The orchestra, considered by many to be one of Sweden’s finest, consists of professional musicians and is renowned for its warm and full orchestral sound. Since 2007, the home stage has been Uppsala Concert & Congress, where they also give family concerts and invite school classes for study visits. In recent years, the orchestra
has made appreciated guest appearances in Estonia, in the concert halls in Gothenburg, Vara and Norrköping and Artipelag on Värmdö. Uppsala Chamber Orchestra is part of the Music in Uppland Foundation, a regional music organization in Uppsala with Region Uppsala as the principal.
