About the Performance
Croatian Zoran Dukić is one of the most prominent classical guitarists of our time. His concert performances, both as a soloist and with orchestra, leave neither audiences nor critics unmoved. Not surprisingly, Zoran is the only guitarist to have won the prestigious Andrés Segovia competitions in both Granada and Palma de Mallorca.
With his exceptional technique and expressiveness, he has mastered a variety of musical periods and styles. Although Zoran considers the music of Bach to be the epicenter of his musical life, his repertoire extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of the classical guitar. Many composers have also written works especially for him.
But Zoran also has a passion for the Spanish and South American musical tradition, the core repertoire of the classical guitar. His program is carefully balanced with music from Bach to Britten, from Sor to Albéniz, from Tárrega to Villa-Lobos, but also with exciting new works by Takemitsu, Henze and Gubaidulina among many others.
When Zoran Dukić takes the stage, audiences encounter not only a world-class guitar virtuoso, but a musician whose playing is characterized by both power, poetry and a rare ability to give each note a meaning.
Zoran Dukić will give a masterclass during the festival. See the program at uppsalagitarrfestival.se
