About the Performance
Since its inception in 2016, Ellas Kapell has become known for its personal interpretations of jazz classics. With Lovisa Jennervall’s expressive vocals and the quartet’s tight, responsive interplay, familiar melodies take on new hues. The music encompasses both the quietly delicate and the rhythmically powerful, with plenty of room for improvisation and spontaneous moments.
In this concert, Ella Kapell’s acoustic foundation meets new electronic sounds. This is also evident on the quartet’s fourth album, *Ember*, where they develop their sound and allow the piano and synth, double bass, and electric bass to become part of a larger soundscape. On stage, however, the most important element remains at the center: four musicians who listen to one another and let the music take shape in the moment.
