Uppsala Jazz Club
Summer jazz on the outdoor stage with some of Uppsala’s most exciting young jazz musicians – presented by Uppsala Jazz Club.
Staffan Berglund is an Uppsala-based trumpeter and arranger, a recent graduate of the Royal College of Music, who combines his contacts from there with the Uppsala jazz scene in a quintet consisting of trumpet, tenor sax and piano trio. Inspired by the smaller settings of the 50s and 60s, such as those with Clifford Brown, Benny Golson, Art Farmer and others, the group will offer music from the standard jazz repertoire. Both well-known gems and more profound digs, in a mixture of arrangements and improvisation. In addition to Staffan Berglund on trumpet, the band consists of saxophonist Tyko Ruin, pianist Elsa Westling, double bassist Johan Tengholm and drummer Kalle Ljungholm.
