About the Performance
Ana Moura is one of the most acclaimed fado singers of our time – an artist who, with her great presence and expressive voice, has renewed Portuguese fado and made the genre beloved far beyond the country’s borders.
Born in the historic town of Santarém in central Portugal and raised in both Portuguese and Angolan musical traditions, Moura has created an expression where the melancholy and longing of classical fado meets the influences of jazz, soul and world music. With albums like her latest ‘Casa Guilhermina’ (2022) and ‘Moura’ (2016), Moura has become an innovator who has never lost touch with the strong tradition and wistful longing of the fado.
Ana Moura has captivated audiences around the world, sharing the stage with artists such as Mick Jagger and Prince. On stage, she creates an atmosphere where Lisbon’s old fado house has its windows open to new musical continents. The result is a concert experience filled with passion, elegance and strong presence – where every song feels both timeless and deeply personal.
An evening of passion, presence and musical beauty awaits at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress.
Presented by UKK x Selam
UKK x Selam
Uppsala Concert & Congress continues to develop its programming activities through collaboration with the music industry’s top expertise. The cultural organization Selam has since 1997 successfully broadened Swedish cultural life with music from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and has taken Swedish music out into the world. The UKK x Selam collaboration, which began in 2022, is a multi-year initiative with the goal of presenting three to four major concert experiences in Uppsala per year.
The collaboration has so far resulted in concerts with, among others, Polar Prize winners Angélique Kidjo (Benin) and Youssou N’Dour (Senegal), Ethio-jazz legend Mulatu Astatke (Ethiopia), Orchestra Baobab (Senegal), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), Brazilian superstar Marisa Monte, Spanish flamenco queen Estrella Morente and several of Cuba’s top salsa bands.
