About the Performance
Christmas has become an annual tradition with the French Trio—a Christmas show that is as natural as it is unique, where melancholy, humor, and musical brilliance come together.
The French Trio got its start in Gothenburg and, over the years, has established itself as one of the country’s most distinctive live bands. With their very own blend of jazz, rock, blues, and the Swedish folk song tradition, they create concerts that are intense, lively, and deeply personal.
In December, they’ll be back with “Christmas with Franska Trion,” a Christmas show that has become a tradition for both the band and the audience. The show features a mix of a few familiar Christmas songs and Franska Trion’s own material—all performed with the energy, darkness, and playfulness that have become the band’s trademark.
2026 will also be an exciting year for Franska Trion. In September, the band will release their new album, “Livet som maskin,” a new chapter in their musical journey, followed by a Christmas tour where the new material will be combined with their long-standing Christmas tradition.
Christmas with the French Trio is Christmas in their own unique way—grand in its small gestures and completely unpredictable.
The French Trio
Since its inception in 2002, the French Trio has become one of Sweden’s most distinctive and cult-favorite bands. Led by singer, pianist, and songwriter Matti Ollikainen, alongside Viktor Turegård on double bass and Christopher Cantillo on drums, their music moves freely between jazz, rock, blues, and folk—from explosive intensity to fragile, subdued moments. Over the years, the trio has built a devoted following, performed as the house band on *På spåret*, and continued to forge its own unique musical path.
