About the Event

A study retreat for classical music!

Take your studies to the next level and study to live music! Take the opportunity to study for an exam, write a paper, or do research—whatever you, as a student, need to work on that requires a focused session. For three hours, classical musicians in small ensembles will perform music by beloved classical composers to provide you with a fantastic environment in which to study. You’re free to come and go as you please and are welcome to stay for just a little while or for the entire study session. The event is completely free, and coffee and pastries will be available for purchase at discounted student prices. The day will conclude with a student after-party in Hall D at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress.

Please note that the study room is a quiet environment, and group work should be done at another time.

The Brain’s Best Friend

Research shows how classical music can affect the brain in remarkable ways. A 2018 study shows that classical music can slow the heart rate and breathing, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve concentration. Another study shows how listening to 20 minutes of classical music a day enhances brain capacity and memory functions. If music is good for the soul, then classical music, in particular, is the brain’s best friend.

A Successful Concept

“Study Sessions” featuring classical music at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam have been filling the concert hall since 2020. These events are highly appreciated by the city’s students, who get to study in a new environment with culture as a bonus. Now, Musik i Uppland and Uppsala Konsert & Kongress are testing the concept in the student city of Uppsala!
