Salsals 9:e Internationella poesifestival

About the Event

On June 13, it is time for the association Salsal to organize the 9th International Poetry Festival at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress.

We welcome writers, poets and thinkers from Europe, Canada, America and Sweden to a day where the mother tongue and free thought take center stage.

The Poetry Festival will be opened by Hanna Nordell, Director of Swedish PEN, who will talk about the importance of freedom of expression and the situation of writers today.

Two guest poets, Jasim Muhamed and Lars Häger, as well as Professor Marie-Christine Skuncke from Uppsala University, will also take part, speaking about the importance of poetry across borders.

Since 2012, Salsal has been working to strengthen the voice of the Persian-speaking diaspora. This year, we are focusing on the vital role of freedom of expression.

Literature and art are humanity’s last borderless outposts. They are travelers who move freely across the world, without passport or visa requirements, to build bridges of understanding where walls otherwise rise. Through artistic exchange, we meet as citizens and fellow human beings, creating a community that extends beyond geographical borders.
