Uppsala Chamber Orchestra

Henrik Schaefer conducts the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra’s Epiphany 2027 and the two opera stars Alexandra Büchel and Richard Hamrin are soloists. We can expect a festive and mixed program, with beautiful Mozart arias, well-known operetta arias and duets, languorous waltzes and much more.

Music drama conductor

Conductor Henrik Schaefer started his career as a violist and was the youngest musician in the Berlin Philharmonic in the 1990s, before pursuing a career as a conductor. He has engagements with opera houses and symphony orchestras all over the world.

Schaefer is musical director of the Folk Opera in Stockholm, principal guest conductor and artistic advisor to the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra, and associate professor at the Royal College of Music.

A crystal clear soprano

Alexandra Büchel is acclaimed for her crystal-clear, rich and warm voice and for her vibrant acting. She has collaborated with composers, orchestras and opera houses in Sweden and abroad and was awarded the Birgit Nilsson Prize in 2017.

Versatile baritone

Richard Hamrin is one of Sweden’s most versatile baritone singers and actors. His areas of expertise range from large-scale opera to playing sought-after roles in the musical world to intimate theater productions. He has performed at opera houses around Sweden and abroad.

Uppsala Chamber Orchestra

With a range of styles spanning from grand symphonies to more intimate chamber music works, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra has performed live music for the county’s residents for over 50 years. The orchestra, considered by many to be one of Sweden’s finest, consists of professional musicians and is renowned for its warm and full orchestral sound. Since 2007, the home stage has been Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, where they also hold family concerts and invite school classes for study visits. In recent years, the orchestra has made appreciated guest appearances in Estonia, at concert halls in Gothenburg, Vara, and Norrköping, as well as Artipelag on Värmdö. Uppsala Chamber Orchestra is part of the foundation Musik i Uppland, a regional music organization in Uppsala with Region Uppsala as the principal.

The concert is organized by Musik i Uppland and is part of the Orchestra Series – Grand Subscription.
